Inspiring Women Worldwide
The AIWCD is an active member of FAWCO, an international network of over 60 clubs representing 30 countries worldwide. In addition to having a representative who attends meetings and regional conferences on behalf of the club, several of our members have served on the boards of both FAWCO and the FAWCO Foundation over the years. Every member in the AIWCD becomes an automatic member in FAWCO.
Founded in 1931 as a non-partisan, not-for-profit coalition, FAWCO serves as a voice and support network for Americans who live and work overseas, with an emphasis on women and children. The organization is a global women’s NGO (non-governmental organization), and since 1997, FAWCO has held special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council.
Scholarships are available for FAWCO members, their children or grandchildren to start or continue their education. Many of our own members or their children have been recipients of these awards.
Since 2013, FAWCO has sponsored a youth program aimed at youth 5-25 years old. The program includes cultural and volunteer education and opportunities for those 18-25 to serve as youth Ambassadors.
Through their online magazine, Inspiring Women, FAWCO highlights the lives and work of women all over the world.
